Guest Speaker: Richard Corcoran, who served as Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives from 2016- 2018, is a champion of grassroots conservatism and accountability in government. After graduating from St. Leo University in Pasco County, he worked in local Republican politics to elect conservatives at a time when there was a Democratic governor and Democrats controlled both houses of the Legislature. Corcoran earned his law degree from Regent University, a Christian university that was founded by Pat Robertson. During this time, he remained involved in conservative campaigns – an effort that ultimately resulted in a Republican governor and Republican control of the Legislature.
Prior to running for office in 2010, Corcoran worked for several Republican Speakers, advancing the same issues he has pursued with such passion during his own time in office. He played an important role in starting Florida’s school choice movement, they also cut taxes, regulations and began turning the tide on wasteful spending. As a state representative. Corcoran has led the fight against waste, fraud and abuse: he has cut taxes over 80 times, totaling more that $10 Billion: and his budgets have reduced the state’s debt by $7 billion, resulting in Florida being named 1st. in the nation for fiscal health. Richard Corcoran has stayed true to his motto of less talk, more action, and has been an unwavering voice for fiscal responsibility and limited government.
