Walter K. Steiner is President of the Lakewood Ranch Republican Club in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, and a Member of the Manatee County Republican Executive Committee. He is a graduate of the Republican Leadership Institute in Washington, DC, has been active in multiple political campaigns, and was a Field Organizer for the Republican Party of Florida in 2016 (Pinellas County).

Walt is a retired Navy Captain: pilot, force squadron commander and Vietnam veteran. He also served our Nation as a senior Federal civilian in four Federal Departments: Labor, NASA, DIA, and Navy. His final military tour was Chief of Navy Mission for the US Mission to NATO in Brussels, Belgium. After retiring from his Federal career, he was a Director at the Reserve Officers Association, a Senior Manager of strategic business development with The Boeing Company, and a Senior Consultant to the Under Secretary of Defense (Policy). He also served as the President of the Association of the United States Navy.  He is presently Vice President, Hartwell Capitol Consulting, a Manatee County and Washington, DC LLC.

Walt graduated from Tennessee Tech with a BS and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst with an MA in Political Science, as well as the Contemporary Executive Development program at The George Washington University. His military schools include the National Senior Intelligence Course, NATO Senior Policy Officer Course, Naval War College and both the Army and Navy Inspector General Courses.

Walt has lived in Lakewood Ranch with his wife of 49 years, Michelle, since 2018. They have three grown children residing in Manatee County  and northern Virginia.
